In this global economic crisis people really are looking to Free and Open Source solutions and Joomla in particular as a shining light as a brilliant FOSS CMS with very deep community and commercial support. The Joomla Day event will be a showcase of the benefits of Joomla for those new to Joomla, those already developing Joomla and those interested in using Joomla to improve their business processes.

We've been waiting a while for the first Joomla Day in Brisbane. It will be a great two days of training and conference sessions.

Day 1 - 1 May 2009

Andrew Eddie will provide two half-day workshop/tutorials: Introducing Designers to Joomla in the morning and Introducing Developers to Joomla in the afternoon. Cost is AU$275 per person (including GST) for each session and includes a free 12 month subscription to the Art of Joomla Developer Reference.

Day 2 - 2 May 2009

Most Joomla Days have a broad spread of where people are at with Joomla so we want to cater to where you are at. Brisbane's first Joomla Day conference will feature three fantastic streams by home grown and interstate speakers.

Cost is AU$75 per person and includes lunch and light refreshments at breaks.

Introduction to Joomla

If you've just inherited a Joomla web site to maintain, or you've heard all the fuss about Joomla and just want to know more, then the Introduction to Joomla stream has been designed for you.

Joomla for Developers and Site Implementors

Know Joomla but want more out of your web site? Andrew Eddie will be bringing you insights into Joomla's flexible customisation systems. Sam Moffatt will cover many of the tips and tricks that you need to secure your web sites.

Joomla for Business

Trying to work out whether Joomla is a good fit for your business? This stream will provide a number of real-life case studies about how Joomla has been implemented from education to the enterprise.

Key Notes

Sam Higgins of Longhaus fame, will be delivering an insightful key note on why it makes sense to look to Open Source projects like Joomla in the shadow of uncertain economic times. Andrew Eddie,Master Joomla Developer, will be providing details on the upcoming version of Joomla that professes to be the best version yet.
